standing by the sea
Calluses have formed over knucklesHardened with the gently caressing windsFingers trace the deadened skin As they trace regret back to its sourceFor the wandering mind thinks of that beyond itThe unexplainedThe unseen and hiddenPlainly written SomewhereLong beforeThisThe heart holds secrets mystified within itselfA vagueness farther than the seasThat carries bottled melancholy beyond that distant shoreAbandonedChills bring tears to the foreThe musty smell of yesterday seeps hard and deepBeneath the surfaceProtecting selfish dreams with realismDisappointing, for fear of hope.Tilt your sight and see the LightEmitted in plain horizonTaken for grantedIgnoredThe dark holds boundless sympathyBut the soul needs empathy and LoveSorely missed from distant momentsAmid raging Sun, raging LightRaging passion for TruthTodayCynicism is the fashionContemplation far and fewThe past is made anewWhile history stares you in the face alteredWhich is why todayYou do not shy awayFrom dastardly blows so humanely cruelSo humanely blatantSo humanely YouPull your chair towards me, dearLet our calluses mark each other’sAs a reminder of those ruthlessly selfish nothingsWe solemnly kept to ourselvesBottled beyond that distant shoreThey will never account for anythingMore.
